On our second trip to China in February 2008 we visited Henan province after a brief stopover in Shenzhen. Beautiful Lunar New Year decorations adorned Shenzhen's shopping centres and businesses - a taste of the spectacular celebrations we would soon experience in Henan.

In Henan we celebrated Lunar New Year in Xiangcheng - an incredible experience. Xiangcheng is the friendliest city I have ever visited and I found myself not wanting to leave.

In Kaifeng we visited Xiangguo Temple, the Dragon Pavilion and the Iron Pagoda. Xiangguo Temple (555 AD) has played an important role in the development of Buddhism in China. The Dragon Pavilion is the former Song Dynasty imperial palace (960-1279 AD) and the Iron Pagoda was constructed in 1049 AD.
