Historic watchtowers in Shenzhen’s Nanshan District

The Shenzhen Daily article Watchtowers found in Nanshan reports that a recent cultural relics census has identified 21 historic watchtowers in Shenzhen’s Nanshan District. The 21 watchtowers were built between 1910 and the 1920s.

Shenzhen’s new tallest building is 8th tallest in the world

Kingkey 100, Shenzhen’s tallest building, is nearing completion. Located in Shenzhen’s Luohu District, Kingkey 100 has 100 floors and soars to 441.8 meters, surpassing the neighboring Diwang Building (383.95 meters), the previous city record-holder. Kingkey 100 is the world’s eighth-highest building, and is linked to the KK Mall which opened in November with luxury brand stores, restaurants and Shenzhen’s first IMAX cinema. 118 countries, regions confirm Universiade participation

Li Hao reports in the Shenzhen Daily that a total of 118 countries, regions confirm Universiade participation. From 12 to 23 August 2011 Shenzhen will host the 26th Universiade games, a major international sporting and cultural event.
